Trevilley Farm

New Arrivals to Trevilley Farm!

News Date:
August 2010

It has been quite sometime since the last newsletter – apologies to those who have been asking for updates!
To get daily updates from the farm and the shop please follow our Facebook and Twitter pages!

The summer may be here, but the wet warm weather is certainly appreciated by the plants. The field outside the car park to the shop is looking full and needs constant attention!

In this field we have Globe Artichokes, Kale, Cabbage, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Lettuce, chard, French beans, beetroot, squash, leeks and brussel sprouts.

The grain store has been cleaned and disinfected – we now await a spell of dry weather so that we can harvest our oat crop. This will be used to feed the sheep and cows in the winter.
Farmer Jim has also planted rapeseed and fodder turnips. These will also be winter food for the livestock.

Elsewhere on the farm we have had some new arrivals; two 8 week old kune-kune pigs.

They are in an enclosure next to Nigella and she certainly seems glad of some company other than the ducks and geese who are all within earshot!

The ducks have started laying so we now have our own duck eggs for sale in the shop.

In the shop, we have had many new products come in:
Banoffee Todka, Hazelnut Todka, Polgoon Red, Polgoon Rose, Polgoon / River Cottage Sparkling Elderflower wine, Camel Valley White Pinot Noir Brut (winner of Best International Sparkling wine), Rapeseed Oil, Reverand Berriman’s Chilli Cola and Chilli Apple, Juicy By Nature Juices, Fine and Smoked sea salt from the Cornish Sea Salt Co.

Chef Clare has started making a couple of new cakes for sale – Marble and Sticky Toffee.
Chef Clare may need to be referred to as Chef / Part-time farmer Clare as she has been helping Farmer Jim plant seeds on his tractor.

Planting Purple Sprouting Broccoli.

Gill has been making new jams - Loganberry, Tayberry, Gooseberry, Gooseberry and Elderflower, Rhubarb and Ginger, Raspberry and the favourite – Strawberry!

We now have a heated cabinet in the shop so we have hot pasties all day (subject to availability)!

Unfortunately the Molly’s range of fruit yoghurts have been discontinued.

Hichens Fish are here on Tuesdays from midday until 3pm. They have delicious fish fresh from Newlyn, Penzance. Luke welcomes orders on 07756 378 482.
