We hope you all had a good and relaxing Easter – shame the weather wasn’t the best on the Sunday.
We have not been the only ones who have been enjoying the warmer weather; the cattle have been taken out of their winter quarters in the shed and put out in the field to graze.
Elsewhere on the farm, Farmer Jim has been drilling spring cereals for winter cattle fed. He has also been sowing fresh grass.
Our swede have nearly finished but we now have our own radish available. Our spinach is looking good and should be ready for sale in a week or so.
Gwenen Apiaries are increasing the number of hives on our farm. We are hopeful that with a warm summer, more bees should produce more honey to sell and also increase pollination, yielding more fruit.
In the shop, we are proud to announce a new supplier of pork – Primrose Herd. Winners of the Cornwall Life Best Entrepreneur / Innovative Product Award 2008, they have been breeding of free range pigs for over 10 years. They tend to favour Gloucestershire Old Spots and Large Blacks, but also finish off a variety of other breeds.
They will be supplementing our other supplier of pork – Cornish Farmhouse Bacon.
Our taster day on 4th April was a great success. We hope that it gave as many of you as possible a chance to meet the producers from Polgoon Vineyard, Table B’Hote and Casa Maria and sample their produce.
Polgoon have also brought out a new product – Raspberry Aval. Like the Aval, it can be likened to apple champagne – it made in the traditional method that champagne is made, only it has a twist of raspberry in it. Simply delicious!

Correction form the last newsletter: we now have a new range of curry sauces:
