Spring is surely on its way. The birds are singing, the days are lengthening and dare I say it, it’s getting just a little warmer. Having said that, I’ve probably gone and jinxed it, so now it’s bound to be snowing by time you read this!
We have a brand new website which is now online – at the same address as the old one. Many thanks to Mat Searle of Creation-WebDesign.co.uk If you are looking for a website, large or small, look no further than Mat!
As well as a new look website, Trevilley Farm is now on Facebook and Twitter. If use either of these websites, please join our page for daily updates!
We are very sorry to say goodbye to Cathy who has left us after being with us for many years.
We would like to sincerely thank her for her efforts while she was here and we wish her all the best for the future.
On the farm, the glass house and tunnel were given a spring clean, prepped and salad leaves were sown. These should be ready for sale in the shop in 6-8 weeks.
Farm-work is very much the same from day to day at this time of the year. The cattle are all in and need food brought to them and to be mucked out on a daily basis.
Farmer Jim will be very glad when the ground dries up enough for him to hitch something to the tractor to get some ground ready for spring sown cereals.
We remain optimistic though that this year will be drier than last and the crops will beat the weeds!
Sadly, Delia the pig died.
Congratulations to Camel Valley on their latest award – their Brut won the prestigious Best International Sparkling Wine at the World Sparkling Wine Championships at Verona, Italy. We thoroughly endorse the award! (Perhaps Valentine’s Day will be a good day to try it if you haven’t already done so!)
Talking of which, the most romantic day of the year will soon be here – make sure you are prepared! Chocolate for the girls, Steak for the boys! (BigBarn.co.uk) Everyone is happy! We will have scented Cornish narcissi flowers in, cakes available (to order) and Trevilley Farm Hampers available – including a Hot Stuff Hamper. We have reduced Christmas chocolate shapes, so why not use these to make a delicious pudding? Go on spoil someone.
Please accept our apologies for the lack of chicken recently. We will no longer be selling chicken from Chicken George. Instead, we will be getting our chicken from two local free-range suppliers. Our first delivery will be on Thursday 4th, so we trust we will be back up to full stock from then on.
In the kitchen Chef Clare has been making new things like Apple and Cranberry Chutney and Chocolate Fudge Pudding. Yummy delicious!
Thank you also for all of your best wishes to Georgie and Lleyton. Both are doing well and appreciate your thoughts.
